Art For Action Joins “Courtney’s Crew” in the Fight to End Pediatric Cancer

In September 2011, Courtney Wagner — a born-and-raised resident of Canandaigua, NY — was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, at the age of 14. She fought valiantly, undergoing countless treatments, many chemotherapies, more than 60 radiation sessions, and several surgeries. Regrettably, after a hard-fought, four-year battle with her disease, Courtney passed peacefully in October 2015 at age 18.

Though not without leaving her mark.

Courtney inspired an entire community to come together and rally behind a common goal. She was a dedicated student, decorated athlete, loving sister, and dear friend. In support of her fight, her family, friends, and peers — “Courtney’s Crew” as they would come to be known — worked tirelessly to organize fundraisers, host events, and even fulfill Courtney’s lifelong dream of appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In her memory, Art For Action is proud to carry on Courtney’s legacy and the good works of her community in the fight to end pediatric cancer. Through the Beth Trevvett Memorial Cancer Fund, our organization has provided support to three incredible foundations (St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and the Dragon Master Foundation) working to eliminate pediatric cancer and provide hope & support to those who are touched by it through cutting-edge research efforts, the development of a large scale database to accelerate cures for pediatric cancers, and customized experiences that brighten the lives of children undergoing cancer treatments.

As we remember a true champion of character, Art For Action is honored to support leading contributors in the pursuit of a cure for pediatric cancer and continues to encourage others to #livelikecourt.
